Learning Mentors

The role of the learning mentor is to support the needs of children who may be experiencing difficulties either at school or at home which are stopping them from learning effectively. By working together with children and families we hope to overcome these barriers and help all of our children to reach their full potential.

 . These challenges could include:

  • Friendship issues
  • Moving house
  • Bereavement
  • Mental/physical health issues
  • Divorce/separation
  • Attendance/punctuality
  • Behaviour

… or anything else which is affecting your family such as cost of living, housing, employment. If you’re not sure if we can help, please get in touch as we work in partnership with a number of different organisations.

The learning mentors are here to listen, offer support, build resilience and work with children to improve their confidence and self-esteem. If you feel your child could benefit from some support, please contact Miss Clifford via Dojo or the school office. We have an open door policy and are always here to listen. We can also signpost you to other organisations who may be able to help, please see the links below.

Operation Encompass

Our school is part of Operation Encompass.

This is a police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people who experience Domestic Abuse. Operation Encompass means that the police will share information about Domestic Abuse incidents with our school asap.

Our parents are fully aware that we are an Operation Encompass school. The Operation Encompass information is stored in line with all other confidential safeguarding and child protection information.

Staff have also had training about Operation Encompass, the prevalence of Domestic Abuse and the impact of this abuse on children. We have also discussed how we can support our children following the Operation Encompass notification. We are aware that we must do nothing that puts the child/ren or the non-abusing adult at risk.
